An Earthy Brew to Open the Senses.

Witching Hour is our rendition of a classic Japanese tea called Genmaicha, traditionally combining toasted rice and green tea. This take pairs the roasted nutty taste of forbidden black rice with the rich vegetal taste of Sencha green tea.

Basic instructions: Steep in hot water 3-4 minutes. Green tea is best in “just off” boiled water, or about 170-185 degrees F.

Serving ideas: To try something unique, infuse your favorite broth with this tea for an umami twist, & enjoy as a savory sipping broth.

Ingredients: Roasted forbidden black rice, Sencha green tea

Green Tea has approx. 20mg per 8oz serving, compared to 150mg in 8 oz coffee

15 Individual sachets. 100% Biodegradable tea bags.

Proudly owned by sisters and made with love in Buffalo, NY

Straight from the Edo period!

Snowy Owl Tea created a genuine piece of Japanese culture with this one. It is some of the most wonderful Genmaicha Green Tea I have ever tasted. The flavor can instantly transport your mind to the tragic beauty of an Akira Kurosawa movie. You can almost imagine sitting next to Sanjuro himself while sipping this incredible tea by a campfire. The aroma, as well, is both robust and corporeal. Earthly with hints of deep secrets that have grown ancient while submerged in the flooded fields of a 17th century Tanada. A truly, divinely, lovingly crafted Green Tea.

Bewitching

I really love having a more "savory" tea. I've tried it with umami broth and it's great, but usually I just put a pinch of salt in if I don't feel like heating up a broth. Absolutely recommended to try if you want to taste something unique and exceptional.
